Top 5 Tuesday is a fun weekly tag created by Bionic Book Worm and now hosted by the lovely Meeghan Reads.
This week’s topic is your top 5 books from your childhood! This was super easy for me because I’ve been an avid reader since I was 5. The hardest part was narrowing down to only 5! I decided to only include books I loved from the ages of 5-10! At age 11, I pretty much went straight from chapter books to young adult books.
1. The Baby-Sitters Club by Ann M. Martin
This was probably my favorite series. I read them constantly. This was my favorite one from the series because it’s the one we find out that Stacy has diabetes. This was super important to me as a child because I also had an invisible illness and I felt so so good reading that representation.
2. Cam Jansen Mysteries by David A. Adler
I thought photographic memory was SO cool as a kid! I also just really enjoyed the mysteries!
3. Junie B. Jones by Barbara Park
Who didn’t love Junie B. Jones? (The B stands for Beatrice!) I remember the very first chapter book I read in one sitting was a JBJ book and I remember being so excited and proud of myself.
4. Amelia Bedelia by Peggy Parish
The #1 reason why I loved these books so much is because they made me laugh so hard. My niece was reading them not too long ago, and I gotta say, they still hold up!
5. Harry Potter by She Who Shall Not Be Named
Okay, I know how awful the author is now and she’s effectively ruined the series for me, but as a child I really really loved these books. I picked up my first one when I was 8 years old and it was instant love for me. This series is responsible for my love of reading. Even if I truly do not like it (or the author) now.
Did you read any of these books as a child? Did you love them as much as I did? I’d love to hear about it below!
I LOVED The Babysitter’s Club and Junie B. Jones when I was a kid. I also really liked Barbara Park’s book ‘Mick Harte Was Here’ (it made me cry.)

YES SAM!!! The Babysitter’s Club is where it’s AT!! I remember reading all of them, and Babysitter’s Little Sister. They were so good!! And I’m so glad they’re making a comeback – have you seen the new adaptation on Netflix??

Karen’s still my favourite character. The funeral for her dolls was the best. 😂

I enjoyed Babysitter’s Club! It was one of the few popular books with an Asian character who wasn’t just a sidekick or comic relief. I still haven’t watched the Netflix series but I want to!
And same about she who must not be named. Ugh. Thankfully most fandom spaces are still awesome and so much more diverse than the wizarding world she created.
here’s my top 5 post
