Find the heir, win the crown.

The curse is finally broken, but Prince Rhen of Emberfall faces darker troubles still. Rumors circulate that he is not the true heir and that forbidden magic has been unleashed in Emberfall. Although Rhen has Harper by his side, his guardsman Grey is missing, leaving more questions than answers.

Win the crown, save the kingdom.

Rumored to be the heir, Grey has been on the run since he destroyed Lilith. He has no desire to challenge Rhen–until Karis Luran once again threatens to take Emberfall by force. Her own daughter Lia Mara sees the flaws in her mother’s violent plan, but can she convince Grey to stand against Rhen, even for the good of Emberfall?

The heart-pounding, compulsively readable saga continues as loyalties are tested and new love blooms in a kingdom on the brink of war.

I love Lia Mara SO much. Like. Damn. This author can write some damn good strong female characters. In the end, I like her sister as well. It took a little while though.

I really liked getting Grey’s POV. It was a nice change from Rhen’s. Though I did find myself missing both Rhen and Harper. I definitely look forward to having all 4 POVs in the final book.

I found Iisak SUPER fascinating and I’d love to learn more about him in the next book. I honestly think a spin off with him would be really good.

The ending made me sad, but I did see it coming a mile away. I’m really frustrated with Rhen. The boy feels like he has to handle everything alone. I was also just generally really disappointed in his actions in the book. I know he’s scared, but physically hurting those who care about him ain’t about it. I really wish we could have gotten Harper’s feelings about what happened. I ‘m sure we will get that in the last book.

I’m really excited for the conclusion of this story!

(Side note: if you’ve read this far down can you please comment your favorite emoji? I’m curious to see how many people read the review vs how many who just like it. Thank you!)
