Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly tag hosted by Bionic Book Worm! Please head over and check out her blog!
This week’s topic is top 5 books that are mind blowing mystery and/or thrillers!! I’m really excited for this week’s topic because I have been really into mystery/thriller type books lately! Below are my top 5!!
1. Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
I think at this point almost everyone has read this. Rightly so, it’s one of my favorite thriller mystery books. It was also one of the very first mystery thriller books I ever picked up. That was a while ago now, and I’m so glad I did! I’ve read many sense! I also enjoyed the HBO show that was made based off this novel.
2. The Night Olivia Fell by Christina McDonald
This story broke my heart, but I loved it. It has all the elements of a perfect thriller, plus some heart. I cannot wait to read more by this author. You can find my full review here!
3. The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton
This is much more of a mystery than a thriller, but it’s one of my absolute fav books ever. It’s what I classify in my mind of “summer vacation lazy reads”. I don’t know if that makes any sense, but it’s there perfect type of book to read in one sitting. In fact, read the nearly 600 pages in one sitting an don’t regret it at all.
4. The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
This has an extremely similar feel to The Forgotten Garden and is also one of my absolute fav. It has a delicious mystery and is creepy in a way that isn’t really scary, but just kind of perfect. The BBC movie starring Vanessa Redgrave, Olivia Coleman, and Sophie Turner was fantastic as well!!
5. Sadie by Courtney Summers
Okay so I assume this title is going to make an appearance on most peoples top 5 lists today, but I couldn’t help myself. This one is by far the best thriller I’ve ever read. It made me so so so sad, but I kinda loved it? Maybe I’m a masochist. Who knows. What I do know is that I crave more novels like this. You can find my full review here!
I’ve realized that I enjoy adult mystery/thrillers a lot more than YA. I’m not exactly sure why that is. Do you prefer YA or adult mystery/thrillers? Let me know below!!
