Hey guys! Happy New Years Eve!!! Can you believe how long and also short 2018 was? Is this what it feels like to be an adult? Years somehow last forever but also pass in the blink of an eye??
Anyway, now that we’ve gotten my existential crisis out of the way, here’s my favorite reads from 2018! This was a GREAT year for books and I’ve read more books in 2018 than I have in years!
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
I had never read a book by Holly Black before this one and I can’t believe how I’ve been missing out for so long!!! It was AMAZING. I absolutely can’t wait until The Wicked King is released!! I’m going to the signing in Nashville!! You can find my full review of The Cruel Prince here!
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Aw man I fell in love with Evelyn Hugo so hard while reading this. It was such a great story. I actually loved it so much that I didn’t know how to put it into words and didn’t write a review for it! Do yourself a favor and pick up this book!!
To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
This one is one of the best enemy to lovers books I read this year! I also just really adore siren novels and this was certainly no disappointment! You can read my full review of To Kill A Kingdom here.
The Summer of Jordi Perez by Amy Spalding
I absolutely adored this story and its characters. I loved the commentary on being fat and how that affects different aspects of your life. This book actually helped me view myself in better light and I am forever grateful for that. You can find my full review of The Summer of Jordi Perez here.
Stolen Time by Danielle Rollins
I wasn’t sure if I should add this one or not, seeing as it’s not being published until February. I decided to go ahead and add it because I read it this year. I super loved this fresh take on time travel! I loved that it’s the first time travel book I’ve read that actually talks about the damages of global warning! But it didn’t feel preachy at all and it had a very interesting plot! Full review to come!
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
I really adored this story and its characters. I hesitated adding it to this list because of all the drama surrounding the author lately, but that doesn’t take away from how much I loved this book. I cannot wait for the next installment! You can find my full review of Children of Blood and Bone here.
Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan
This is another ARC I received that I just really loved. It was also the first physical ARC I received from a publisher, so it’ll always have a special place in my heart. But aside from that, it’s a story about a badass and strong lesbian who is chosen to be one of several women from her kingdom to be a sex slave to their awful king. It’s a hard read, but so so good. You can read my full review of Girls of Paper and Fire here.
Sadie by Courtney Summers
This was definitely the hardest book to read this year. It deals with some really dark stuff such as pedophilia and neglect. Although it was a difficult read, it was also really really good. I cried. The ending broke me and I still haven’t gotten over it. But it was amazing. You can find my full review of Sadie here.
Such a great year for reading! I hope 2019 is just as great! Have a Happy New Year guys!!
