Bookish This or That Tag

Thisor ThatTag (3)Hey lovelies!! Today I’ve decided I want to do a tag! It’s been a while since I’ve sat down and done one of these! I originally saw this on Rain’s blog and it looked like a lot of fun!! Go check out her post! I was also tagged by the lovely Bibi! Thank you so much!! ❤ Just like with Rain’s post, this is a mini celebration for me having survived my first week back at college! (Though this will be scheduled for a few days into my second week!) Let’s do this!

Bookish This or That Tag

1. Series or standalone?

I like each for different reasons. With standalones, I enjoy being able to read an entire story without having to wait for a sequel. I usually enjoy contemporaries as standalones. Series are perfect for worlds that have more stories to tell than one, or stories that require a lot of detail. Series are perfect for fantasy! I can’t really say that I enjoy one above the other.

2. Magic earned or magic born?

I find it more interesting when a character has to earn their magic/powers. That being said, characters who are born with magic can be pretty interesting too!

3. ‎Enemies to lovers or friends to lovers?

Aw man this one is SO easy!! Enemies to lovers is one of my absolute favorite tropes ever!! I will die defending it!! Friends to lovers is so overdone and I’m honestly so over authors never letting friends just be friends. (ESPECIALLY FEMALE/MALE FRIENDSHIPS. Men and women can just be friends for fuck’s sake. //Excuse my language, it’s a sore topic for me.)

4. ‎Hilarious banter or emotional ruin?

I enjoy a healthy mixture of both! I will say that it’s nearly impossible for me to enjoy a book that lacks any type of humor, but I will on occasion enjoy fluffy books that don’t have any emotional ruin in it. So I guess hilarious banter?

5. ‎Love triangle or insta love?

Can I choose neither? I honestly can’t stand either…

6. ‎Keyboard smash names or all names start with the same letter?

Same letter! I like to actually be able to pronounce a name lol. Keyboard smash names are too difficult and I get unreasonably angry when I find out I have been mispronouncing a name.

7. ‎Mean parents or dead parents?

I don’t like either all that much, but if I had to choose I would say dead. Mean/abusive parents piss me off.

8. ‎Supermodel looks or constantly says how “plain” they are?

This entire tag is just me saying neither… But honestly, both are really annoying. I wish characters could describe how they look without commenting on if they find themselves attractive or not.

9. ‎Face on cover vs. typography on cover?

Oh finally another super easy one! Typography!!! Face on covers are one of my biggest bookish pet peeves!

10. ‎Villain turning a little good or hero turning a little bad?

Definitely villain turning a little good!! I absolutely adore redemption arcs. It doesn’t even have to be full redemption.

11. ‎Best friend dies or love interest dies?

It depends. I want whichever is more devastating. (I’m a bit masochistic like that sometimes.) It really depends on the character and what their friendship/relationship is like. I feel like it’s usually more heartbreaking when a love interest dies, but that’s probably because it’s more common.

12. ‎Awesome writing with a dull plot or amazing plot with murderously bad writing?

Definitely amazing plot with murderously bad writing!! I cannot handle dull plot at all. It really doesn’t matter how amazing the writing is, if the plot isn’t interesting I can’t enjoy it.

13. ‎Cliffhanger ending or heartbreaking ending?

…..Neither? I want everything wrapped up in a happy way…

14. ‎Breaking the spine or dog-earing the pages?

Why is this even a question????? Well I’ve only dog eared pages if I have nothing to use as a bookmark, but I have never purposely broken a spine.. But I rather keep the book in good condition and do neither.

15. ‎“Bad boy” trope or “perfect golden boy” trope as the love interest?

Bad boy all the way!! I’m such a sucker for a bad boy with a soft spot for MC! Some of my favorite male characters fall under the ‘bad boy’ trope!

Well that was fun!!! I’m tagging:

  3. I’m with you on most of them, but I want my heroes turning a little bit bad!! Bring on the morally grey MCs! (But redemption is also good, nothing like a great Zuko for a baddie – although, maybe Zuko was never the baddie after all…)
